In 1993 Kirk Walwick left his position as tax manager with Ernst & Young to become a professional staff accountant at Gatto Pope. Four years later, Kirk became the firm's third partner.
With 23 years in the field and substantial experience in tax accounting, including his stint at the firm of Ernst & Young, Kirk focuses his work today on tax research, planning and compliance, international tax consulting, and the implementation, coordination and administration of expatriate programs and policies. Accounting services, such as audits, reviews and compilations, and general business consulting, are part of Kirk's work, as well.
Kirk has served on the management advisory board of The Salvation Army's Sierra Del Mar division since 1998. He is also chairman of The Salvation Army's financial committee and treasurer of its executive committee. In 2006, Kirk was nominated for membership in the Executive's Association of San Diego, an organization that began in the early 1920s and continues as a network of the city's top business leaders. Kirk's prior community involvement includes serving on the boards of the Rancho Family YMCA and the Deer Canyon Foundation, and participating on both groups' finance committees.

A native San Diegan, born and raised in Oceanside, and a graduate of San Diego State University, Kirk's hobbies include surfing, skiing, playing golf and softball, and traveling with his wife, Sheila, and their children, Chad, Cody and Kendall.
